Collection includes letter, 7 Apr. 1811, "Catawba" [York County?, S.C.], Davie to Abram Blanding, Lancaster, S.C., re payment of a debt owed by Davie's father to a Mr. Burdeaux, and noting that his father died intestate. Also includes typescript of will, 17 Sept. 1819, Chester District, S.C., naming as executors Davie's son Hyder Ally Davie and son- in-law William F. DeSaussure; remainder of material documents a proposal to remove Davie's remains from Waxhaw Presbyterian Church, Lancaster County, S.C., for reinterment on the campus of the University of North Carolina, and objections to this plan among descendants, historians, and church members. Correspondents include John J. Parker, Alexander B. Andrews, and Gov. J. Melville Broughton.
